Abstract

Social media holds significant importance due to its unique capabilities in two key aspects. First, it presents opportunities for the material and spiritual development of society, and second, it poses inherent risks and challenges. Contemporary Muslim thinkers, equipped with a deep understanding of modern media—particularly social media—and guided by Quranic perspectives on cyberspace, emphasize the need to harness its benefits while remaining vigilant against its dangers. This study employs a descriptive and analytical methodology, drawing on library resources, to examine Quranic references and authenticated scholarly opinions regarding the opportunities and threats of social media. The findings reveal that, from the perspective of many Islamic scholars, foreign and anti-Islamic elements dominate mainstream media, posing a substantial real and potential threat. These forces wage cultural invasions and “soft wars” against Muslim societies. The only viable solution to counter this influence and reclaim control over social media is Jihad fi Sabilillah
